wild & precious life

Art Deco

I received vouchers for the Tyneside Cinema (an art deco Grade II listed cinema) as a birthday gift, so tonight we made use of them. It felt like a treat after 3 days of working on my UKCP 5 year re-accreditation! I thought Italian beurocracy was bad but this beats even that! Anyway, I finally got to the end of all the preparation this afternoon (form after form, summary after summary, certificate after certificate). I will meet with the the panel on Wednesday & my supervisor next week. Then it all gets handed into a committee! Hopefully that will be that.

Whilst working on it, we watched the very moving scenes of events in Edinburgh today, as the Queen's coffin was taken slowly along the Royal Mile to St Giles for a thanksgiving service, flanked by Scottish guards & followed by her sons and daughter.

The film we saw tonight was called The Forgiven with Ralph Fiennes and Matt Smith. We all really enjoyed it. The blurb on the website says: "Celebrated Irish filmmaker John Michael McDonagh writes and directs this scathing, star-studded critique of white privilege and the commodification of 'exotic' travel destinations as a pleasure ground for the wealthy elite, adapted from the acclaimed novel by Lawrence Osborne".
