The Queen’s Procession

I did take some photos in my garden today, but I want my blip to record these momentous days. This afternoon was the Queen’s procession, her coffin, covered by the Royal Standard and Imperial State Crown, was carried on a gun carriage from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall where she is now lying-in-state. Her children walked behind her coffin, followed by some of her grandchildren. Sombre music was played by the military bands, the drumbeat guided the marching feet, and Big Ben tolled every minute. The crowds stood in silence or gave respectful applause (once they’d taken the obligatory photo with their phone). She sun shone after the heavy rain overnight which soaked those queueing for the lying-in-state. This marked the point when her family was putting her back into the public realm, it was very dignified and very moving. The military performed their duties to perfection.
