Romney Again

About a month ago I blipped a plaque in Kendal about the painter George Romney and Knottman2 asked if he invented mint cake.  Todays blip shows why you might well think that a Kendal portrait painter from the 1700s invented the mint cake that has famously been to the top of Everest
The website of Romney's mint cake reveals that :-
- yes , their mint cake went to the top of Everest on 29 May 1953 in the hands of Sir Edmund Hillary and 
no - George Romney the painter did not invent mint cake. The company George Romney Ltd was created in 1918 to take advantage of Kendal's association with the painter and because the family lived on Romney Road .
