Жигули

More than a year ago I blipped a УАЗ-452. A Russian kind of VW Multivan.
Today I noticed this exotic car. As it is quite similar to a Fiat 124 I have only taken a picture of the back side with the name and type.
Жигули is Zhiguli in English. This one was the first type, of a series of 7, made in the 1970s.
Zhigulis were made by Во́лжский автомоби́льный заво́д (in our characters: Vólzhskiy avtomobíl'nyy zavód, meaning Volga Automotive Plant), abbreviated to ВАЗ, later renamed to АвтоВАЗ (AvtoVAZ). Most of you will know Lada as a brand. That's the same brand, the same car, but in the past Zhiguli was for the Russian (USSR) market, Lada was for the West. So this car was probably imported by a private owner, not a company.
Great to see such an old car still in use.
