Yesterday's Dragon Fruit

This was the fruit I blipped yesterday. I was sure the greengrocer told me it was the white variety but it was the red sort.

What I discovered today was that it is formed on a type of cactus.  Like this. I served it up with ice cream and cream and the flavour and texture were pleasant but not outstanding. Where it would come into its own would be, if I were serving guests a fruit salad, this red variety would look nice as a colorful addition, giving everyone a quarter piece of fruit.

A quiet day with just a trip into town for The Man to have an eye test.
