Riding the Roxburgh Gorge trail

This morning we rode the Roxburgh Gorge trail. The middle section isn't rideable as the landowner hasn't allowed the trail to cross his land.

By afternoon I'd shed the tights for shorts amd swapped to a lighter jersey. The warmest I've been all week.

A jet boat took us and our bikes through that section. Then we were back on our bikes for the final section to the Roxburgh Dam.

It's a great trail. More technical in places and built for curves and swerves. It's a cracker of a ride (and yes I found some rocks to carry).

In the afternoon we rode the interesting part of the Clutha Gold trail. It's also beside the Clutha River but follows the true left. It's more undulating across more open land, and is also built for curves and swerves.

We hardly saw anyone on either trail, which was surprising on a lovely spring Saturday. Meanwhile the Dunstan trail was heaving with people and bikes. It's the jewel in the crown of Central Otago tracks that everyone wants to do. I'm glad we rode it yesterday.
