Feuerzangenbowle

It was a late night and a slow morning. Still, Kerry and I are up and out before Em stirs. I pick up my car from The Bellfield and head out of town, while Kerry delivers some cakes.

There’s a parcel waiting for me from Germany. My friend Kuchi has set me ingredients and equipment for making Feuerzangenbowle. All that I need is some red wine and some mugs that can cope with burning brandy.

I eat last night’s leftover noodles in the kitchen before heading into the garden to gather windfalls and pick plums. There are marrows and cucumbers lurking in the tunnel. I pick salad and cucumber and beetroot and tomato. Roast stuffed marrow with garden salad for tea tonight.
