Carrbridge

The ruin of the bridge is impressively lit at night.

A very pleasant day of whisky-ness. Firstly a visit to the Glenlivet distillery, a big operation with 3 pairs of stills and plans for a 4th. Tasting took in the 3 standard expressions at 12, 15 and 18 yo - preferred the 15 to last night's 18.
Then on to Dufftown to checkout the festival proper. The tasting rooms set up in the community hall was an absolute bargain at 8.50 for 5 tastings, and you got to keep the glass which cost 3.50 if bought separately. My tastings were:
1. 27yo Tomintoul
2. 33yo Glenlivet
3. 1980 Knockando (didn't get the aging, I think it was 12)
4. 27yo St Magdalene (the distillery you see from the Glasgow-Edinburgh train at Linlithgow which is now flats).
5. a beer

The 33yo Glenlivet was something special.
