The TAMARIX (tamarisk, salt cedar)

The Tamarix is an ideal plant for the coast.
Grows in dry sand, tolerates salty sea air, prolonged drought and strong winds.
Grows with long limp branches.
The scaly leaf needles are small, which means little evaporation; the needles excrete salt in hot weather. These crystals sparkle in the sunlight.

In August-September, pink 'fluffy' flower plumes bloom on the branches.
