Westray Gannets

The other cliff-nesting birds are long gone but the gannets, being the largest, are still getting the chicks ready for fledging. On the cliffs other birds included 3 great skua, probably birds from the north migrating through, and a merlin- too fast for me to photo but nice to see. Still swallows and wheatears (extra) about. There have been reports of other migrants like barred and yellow-browed warbler, but the conditions became poor and I cycle back in pretty heavy rain to the pier.
