Harbour Seal

On the Bay of Birsay the tide was coming in and some harbour seals were being forced off a rocky spit, a taing. I was sitting on the beach and I think that this seal is giving me a 'you're on my spot' look, so I moved on and, looking back, eight seals had taken my place. The extras are another seal doing the same thing and a weather- battered wheatear. I saw about four wheatears en route south, swallows still here, and dunlins, ringed plovers, snipe and a single bar-tailed godwit on the shore and other birds.
