Hume Castle

Accompanied MrM into Berwick this afternoon - he needed to buy a lock for our new door, and I purchased some winter violas to add  colour to the 'yard over the next few months.

Then to Kelso to take a mandolin back to a friend - MrM had made some adjustments to it. We went a very long way round, through Chirnside, Allanton, and Duns, for old times sake! Mandolin delivered, we drove home on some quiet back roads, passing close to the remains of Hume Castle, which was built during the 12th/13th centuries on a natural outcrop of rock, high above the surrounding land.

Very worrying news from Lucy tonight about her dad. She and Tom are with him.
