Deception Pass Bridge

Built in 1935 to connect Whidbey Island and Fidalgo Island.   The people who lived on the islands were really happy about that but it also brought a lot of people to the islands and eventually the Navy Base just South of here.     Joe and I always enjoy walking the bridge and taking pictures every time we come!
Thanks so much for dropping by and will try and get to some of your journals.   Thank you also for such wonderful comments for my painting too!   Blip always seems to be a safe place to put yourself out there.
Thanks to steveng for hosting Wide Wednesday and glad I could figure out something for the challenge!
Deception Pass comes from Captain Vancouver as they were mapping the area and when they got to Whidbey Island (no name at that time)  they thought it was the mainland.  Later on he decided to send Joseph Whidbey and Peter Puget to do a more thorough investigation and they actually found that passage that leads into Puget Sound  -  so names after Peter Puget.    They were deceived into thinking there was no pass and low and behold there was!
