Day 121 of 365 - The Golden Cross!

Welcome to day 121 of 365 (Finished image after Editing)

The original photo was taken early this evening. It is of The Golden Cross pub in Hay Lane Coventry. The Tudor property was built in the late 16th Century and is one of the last few remaining buildings in the City with a medieval timber frame. The Golden Cross is located in the heart of the historic Cathedral Quarter area of Coventry. The building has gone through a series of restorations mainly in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Timbers were used from the original wooden Bell Tower of St. Michael's Church (before it's time as Coventry Cathedral). The pub is now due to be refurbished soon and will then be Leased out by the current company that owns the building.

The building is is a Grade II* Listed building and is number 6 on my list of 24 (Grade II*) Listed buildings in Coventry that I hope to photograph.

As always the shot was taken with my iPhone 5. The photo was taken using the camera App Huemore for iPhone. The original image can be found here: Unedited original Image.

First of all I used the amazing editing features of an App called Handy Photo to delete some of the more modern elements of the original photo. This included the 'Lease this Bar' sign, the no parking road sign. The alarm box on the building and the bollards on the pavement outside the pub, then clone the background in place of them. I also used the same App to crop the image. Next I used an App called Perfect B&W to age the photo using the Carbon filter. Finally I used Distressed FX to add extra texture to the image using the Ansel overlay and the Lazarus Texture.
