Autumn Equinox

Our intention was to return home today. But our neighbours messaged to say they are watering our plants, and on checking we found that Highways England have dropped the proposed weekend closure of the M6 southbound after the chaos on the first weekend. So we decided to stay an extra day.

That meant a trip after breakfast to the local supermarket for provisions so we can eat this evening. The light was fabulous, as it can be in September, which gave me cause to pause for a photo or two en route. This is our nearest church in our nearest village. Like many old English churches it’s been added to, repaired and remodelled. So the first 4 metres of the tower may be pre-Norman, the rest is 16th century. It’s a lovely church in a fine setting.

And …… it’s the autumn equinox today. Let proper autumn now begin.
