A day out

We woke to a fine morning and decided to have a drive out - heading north, and mainly west on the Galway coast, along the Wild Atlantic Way.

We stopped when we saw something to attract us.  Our first stop was at a Ceardlann An Spidéal.  Clearly mainly aimed at the tourists, but the glass crafters and the willow weavers had some lovely items, and do workshops, so we've picked up info.  We had a cuppa here.

Then we continued around the Connemara coast - wonderful limestone walls and views over the Atlantic.  Subsequent photos taken at Trá An Dóilín - a coral strand at a dead end.  It was beautiful, but very windy.

By this time we were ready for lunch, but struggled to find somewhere to eat.  Eventually we called in to a little cafe at a garage where they made us fresh filled baguettes to order, and we took these to a suitable stopping point overlooking the sea.  It rained hard briefly as we sat in the car munching our baguettes.  The bottom photo was taken from the car window, after the rain had stopped. 

We then found a lovely road across moorland and past many small lakes to Oughterard, where we joined the N59 and turned south to Galway.
