A Day Worth Recording

Our one jaunt out in the car this holiday - to Tintagel.  Not especially to see lacklustre ruins (though the blipped sculpture of King Arthur added interest), not even to see migrating African swallows, but to see...

The Bridge.

The site itself has to be one of the larger tourist-fleecing operations English Heritage operates.  Thankfully we're members so get in free, but the site is practically bare, the signage (or lack thereof) rubbish, but we're still talking around 20 quid each to get in - plus parking (not EH, but where the sign implies 50p, and charges a fiver).

The bridge, however, is an impressive feat of engineering.

While sitting at the café afterwards we got approached by someone doing a survey.  We may have shifted their average sample a bit.

Anyway, we headed along the coast path for a bit and circled back into Tintagel village, coming across the Old Post Office (NT) which was hugely more informative and fascinating than the 'castle'.
