Calm Before the Storm

An absolutely beautiful morning as Hurricane Ian barrels towards Florida. Even though we live 100 miles inland, we expect to experience Tropical Storm force winds ( 73mph) and a lot of rain, upwards of 12", on Thursday! Thankfully our area doesn't tend to flood since we have a very sandy soil. I fear for the folks on Florida's west coast. Tidal surge can be deadly. I hope they will heed warnings and evacuate. Easy to say but...
On our morning walk...Siam Tulip aka Summer Tulip, Curcuma alismatifolia.  It's a tropical plant native to Laos, northern Thailand and Cambodia. It's related to ginger species such as Turmeric and isn't a 'tulip'. And an ever-present White Ibis.
Shana Tova to all who celebrate!
