White Spindles

I went to see if last week's Octopus Stinkhorns had emerged. They hadn't. But I did find these pale White Spindles (Clavaria fragilis) growing at the same spot, which is slightly odd as they usually come up in grass. As the Latin name suggests, they are very fragile and I saw dozens that had been broken off, presumably by passing deer or other animals.
