Here we go again!

Bonjour M. Courbet! (Musée Fabre)

Today we visited the Musée Fabre. The heart of the museum's collection is the donation by Alfred Bruyas, a wealthy Montpellier resident who was a patron of Cabanel, Delacroix, Glaize and Courbet, among others. We seriously saw at least 15 portraits of Bruyas by different artists! The one in my blip may be the most famous, showing Bruyas, his servant and his dog "Breton", greeting Courbet on his arrival in Montpellier (1854). There were also lots of paintings by Bazille, who was from Montpellier too, and a really beautiful Morisot.

Other than that, we've been cooking, doing laundry and getting some work done. It's quite noisy sleeping here with people going by and a regular street sweeper that comes down the street around 5am, so neither of us slept well yesterday, and we're glad for a quiet day. Nice chat with Th who has booked her flight to come and visit us over Christmas - very exciting! Also a later good chat with Ch, very happy after a jam-packed week-end!
