Doing the NC 500

We met the 3 guys pictured at breakfast this morning.  They were from Nottingham and had purchased a used car for 500 pounds, to drive Scotland’s 500 mile northern coast route, the NC500,  “The car has a ‘lawn mower engine’, 4 pretty good tires, but none of them match, and lots of filler to cover up the many dents and blemishes.  It is surprisingly roomy inside.  All in all, it would be a 1500 mile trek, if the car made it all the way.  Almost finished, they hoped at least to make it to Loch Lomand where they could catch a train home, if necessary.

This morning we visited the extraordinary Inverewe Garden, developed by Osgood McKenzie in the early 1900s.  In the afternoon, on and off rain dissuaded us from playing golf at Gairloch, so instead we visited the Gairloch Museum.  The extra is of 3 gentlemen viewing a film inside the gallery.
