Ben’s Rocks

Up at the ungodly hour of 2:30 . Left Perth at 3:17 and was through security at Edinburgh airport by 5:05. I am always amazed as you drive to the airport early on quiet roads then get in the airport and it’s mobbed! Even people drinking pints at Wotherspoons at 5 o’clock and eating a hearty breakfast. I am the opposite of hardcore!

Left on time 6:05 (aargh) and a launch a smooth flight over. I watched a brilliant film starring Martin Sheen called ‘The Way’ and now I want to walk the Camino. https://followthecamino.com/en/camino-de-santiago-routes/

We met some of the Rangers football club ladies who are playing Benfica tomorrow night. And helped two ladies navigate the metro to Oriente station rather than them getting a taxi. Lisbon has opened up a bank of passport readers that work efficiently rather than join the ROW massive queues at passport control. Edinburgh Border Force please take note how to operate efficiently- or rather they have sufficient staff !

We arrived at Cascais and walked up to the apartment to drop off cases. A very pleasant 23 degrees here. Although I walked around like a zombie due to lack of sleep.

Walked over the road from our flat to a Portuguese restaurant. The waiter was lovely and friendly and told us even here they had day and night coverage of the Queen and he now knows every fact :). 14 days worth ! My chicken was beautifully cooked in a mushroom sauce and a mountain of chips. I fell into bed at 8:15 totally exhausted. Hopefully the holiday starts tomorrow!

Ben’s Rocks - names cos when we had a day trip from Lisbon last November Ben entertained himself climbing and throwing himself off the faraway rocks beneath the hotel:)
