Beefsteak Fungus

A Beefsteak fungus (Fistulina hepatica) growing on oak. I've been watching this one since it first appeared about three weeks ago. It was only a couple of centimetres wide when I first came across it but its now at least ten times that size. The smooth upper surface has turned from pale pink to dark red-purple and become quite rough. It should start oozing 'blood' soon. Unfortunately just a phone camera snap today.
