It May Represent Something Profound….

…. but it makes a good perch too!

We visited Broomhill Art Hotel and Sculpture Gardens between here and Barnstaple this morning. It seems to be a very well kept secret but well worth a visit.

The gardens are home to a varied and interesting collections sculptures by a range of artists all in the natural woodland and water setting and, in the flowering season, surrounded by appropriate plants to set them off. Some of the more abstract pieces were a bit too obtuse for our tastes but there were plenty of impressive pieces too.

These mandarin ducks in the main blip had found a practical use for this piece.

The hotel decor is equally eclectic and interesting and they do a cream tea to die for: given the huge portions of jam and clotted cream there was a danger that might literally have been the case; my arteries were begging me to stop at one point!

We managed to to walk off a small percentage of the calories with a walk at Lee Bay, where we spent a family holiday about 30 years ago when the kids were young.

More sculptures in extras.
