Rain Stops Play

200 miles of motorway driving - the last 100 through rain and spray - gathering to spend a weekend nurturing friendships begun almost 50 years ago. A quirky, ancient house in the Eden Valley, cluttered with ephemera gathered over centuries; familiar from past visits, almost an eccentric friend itself

As we arrived, the rain relented and sun broke through. I have pictures of dripping, aged yews and sparkling lawns, with stone gables in the background, but somehow it is this one that best captures the whimsy of this charmed enclave of a lost England
