PINKTOBER DAY 1

Hello Lovely Blippers,

Because I am pink and some might say “cuddly”, although others might not agree - it has fallen to me to open the proceedings on this auspicious occasion of Pinktober.

Many of you will know that this month is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which means get out, put on or photograph anything that is pink - some of us are wearing a pink ribbon and of course, we had to explain it all to Baby Jay, the new American member of our Silly Saturday Gang, so that he knew what was going on, especially as there will be more outrageous pink things happening during the month of Pinktober.

Well, as you know, Mr. & Mrs HCB are on their holibobs in North Yorkshire and after a very wet day yesterday, we were all hoping that today would be sunny, warm and dry - well parts of it have been, but now it is raining heavily again.

They visited their friend, Sue, for lunch, on their way to Hillcrest Holiday Park, near Caldwell in the Yorkshire Dales and we were very excited because they will be staying in a wonderful lodge called Bowes Hideaway and it has a hot tub!  We were hoping that we could all get in and have our photograph taken with Mrs. HCB in her pink swimming cossie and Mr. HCB in his pink speedos BUT they decided against that when the rain came.

What wimps and spoilsports - we said you would all like to see them in all their glory, but they both said in very strong terms, “Not on your Nellie” which might even be a Yorkshire expresssion similar to “On yer bike”!  They were adamant and said it may be Silly Saturday, but no way were they having their photographs taken wearing pink togs, because that would be extremely silly and even if this day is in memory of dear Admirer, they drew the line at that.  So we had to think of something else.

The bathroom in this wonderful lodge has to be seen to be believed, there is a fantastic bath - a double shower - two wash basins and it is just amazing.  So as the rain is still pouring down, we decided that we would sit around the bath so that Mrs. HCB could take our photograph.

The fact is that every ten minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK. So, don’t be ignorant, during breast cancer awareness month 2022, arrange to have a mammogram and if you have never had one then get in touch with your GP and make an appointment.  Of course, breast cancer is not restricted to women, so men need to be aware too.

With love to you all from

P.S.  Mrs. HCB said to thank you all for your kind comments on their rainy walk around Harlow Carr Gardens yesterday, but please excuse her if she doesn’t comment much, as she is on holiday and there is lots to do and places to see.
