Autumn downpour

The weather today was very mixed, from glorious sunshine to absolute downpour, as blipped. Fortunately the sun was out when I took my lunchtime run.

For much of the day I worked in the kitchen, preparing for the arrival of dinner guests Jack and Katharine. I made the mushroom dish that Tweedy recently recommended to Sallymair as the first course, honeyed figs with dolcelatte and gnocchi as the main course, and trifle for pudding.

We all enjoyed the feast this evening. It was a particular treat to see Jack and Katharine on their own for a change. They brought a few plants for my garden, which I will plant out tomorrow.

Exercise today: running (2.6 miles).
