Dawn chorus

I've survived and had a very good time on the 'Dawn Chorus' walk this morning organised by The Farm. We had to be there at 4.30am and after roll call, H&S, dietary requirements and introductions, in the dark, we all set off into the beautiful countryside around The Farm whilst the man from the RSPB helped us to identify the different bird songs we were hearing in the dawn chorus and the list is pretty long. The first four and the Wren were the loudest and most constant contributors: (oh, and not forgetting that cockerel!!)

Blackbird
Robin
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Crow
Rook
Jackdaw
Buzzard
Goldfinch
Chaffinch
Black cap
Reed Bunting (very good sighting of this)
Greater Spotted Woodpecker (load and clear)
Swallow
Mallard
Tufted Duck
Sparrow
Wren (surprisingly loud song from this tiny bird)
Magpie
Jay
Pheasant
Cockerel
Hen
Canada Goose
Collared Dove
Woodpigeon
Coot

Sadly no Kingfisher or Otters seen in the River.

On returning to the Farm we had a fabulous hearty breakfast, lots of chat and then home - think I'll have a snooze before starting anything else!! Glad I made the effort though.

ps Its raining now!
