Now, as I see it......

Pergamom

Today we visited Pergamom, a ruined city built on a hill high above the modern city of Bergama.  To reach it we had to travel by cable car to the top of the hill, an 'interesting' experience given the fairly high winds.  The views from the top were amazing, and the ruins very interesting.  Most of the artefacts and some of the ruins have been transported to the Pergamom Museum in Berlin, but there was still a lot to see.  My picture is of the Theatre built into the side of the hill, but that was just a small part of the site.

After another windy trip down on the cable car we visited the Pergamom Museum and then after lunch, spent a couple of hours exploring the nearby Asclepieion.  Another good day.

A long drive afterwards to our hotel for this evening in the city of Manisa.  We've just had an excellent meal in the restaurant next door and are now ready for bed with the prospect of another early start tomorrow.
