Homeward bound

The flight was only an hour, but we ended up spending the whole day travelling, leaving the apartment at 8:30 and getting home at 6 pm.

Having seen how busy Palma airport was on our arrival, we'd left plenty of time. But to our astonishment, the milling crowds in most of the airport gave way to  a quiet corner with a dozen Ryanair bag drop desks, staff twiddling their thumbs, and no passengers. So two minutes to drop the bag off, and security, while busy, was run very efficiently with lots of staff -- five minutes for that. Even though the flight was late, we still made our train from Toulouse with time to spare.

Back home, cat sitters James and Sue had kindly cooked dinner for us and greeted us with a chilled bottle of Crémant de Limoux. Mystère was now their best friend and peered at us suspiciously from behind Sue. He soon relented however, and draped himself over me purring. We had a very pleasant evening with them, conversation ranging over all sorts of topics and going on far into the night. We enjoyed meeting them. They're off to Bulgaria next, to look after 13 dogs, but they'll be welcome to come and cat sit again.
