Cascais to Estoril

Backblip

I am wAaay behind with my blips.  Been back to the cold for 5 days now and back on it!

We walked the two mins to our little Cafe for breakfast .  Later arriving there this morning, cos we decided to have a day staying local.  But that didn’t mean sitting around, oh no, off we walked the 15 min downhill to the old town, the touristy bit,  after the usual toasted croissant and coffee - when they see us now they just say ‘the usual’ - I like that!

The promenade runs all the way along the coast to Estoril.  It’s great to walk with joggers, cyclists, and walkers of locals and tourists alike.  There are little bars and restaurants at various points to sit and just people watch or watch the sea.  There was a lido area too with folks swimming.  As we were reaching Estoril beach area I noticed a pile of young kids splashing about in the water.  It was a nursery class and they were having so much fun.  There was a lifeguard standing nearby watching them as well as two teachers in the water too.  How fabulous to be able to do this :).

We found a place for lunch, then walked back again.  We met the nursery kids again and now they were all sitting in the wall eating ice lollies.  We stopped off at a little cafe for a cool drink.  It was quite warm again around 24, just nice.

Had a wander down one of the piers and just watched the waves.  It felt good and so relaxing.

Back into the centre of Cascais and round the corner to Santini’s for ice cream,  yum!  Walked back up to the apartment and got ready for going out for our meal- back to Mesmo tonight and welcomed like friends .  Everyone we meet is so friendly , speak great English and like a good chat

We were exhausted again - sea air and lots of walking!
