Sumptuous Surroundings

Went to see our friend, Padre Luís, at ONE of the churches in his new parish, a very grand sanctuary to house the tiny pietà you can see at the top of the photo, that was discovered in a clay pot several hundred years ago by a farmer ploughing his field. He promptly built a small chapel on the spot, which was replaced by this grand structure in the 18th century. I´ll put an extra of the outside, in case you´re interested, glowing in the evening sun as we arrived. (Deleted to post another extra.)

Gratefuls:
- good picnic with Mike beside the Sado River in Alcácer do Sal beforehand (so hot!)
- dinner with Luís afterwards, in Vila Nova de Baronia (good food, terrible service), and good conversation (which I miss so much)
- getting home safely (thanks, Mike)
