Coventry Cathedral

End of the Sunday service

Coventry Cathedral is now free to enter. We got there whilst the service was in full swing so sat quietly at the back (after checking it was acceptable to do so). The choir were really good.

It’s such a huge building it’s very difficult to photograph, especially using a phone. The clear glass at the door is etched or sculpted with human sized figures which are so tricky to photograph but at least you can see the size here against the anonymous blur and silhouettes of the congregation enjoying tea and coffee.

The bell ringers were playing the bells for ages after and you can see them in the bell tower (not on this blip) outside as the front walk is a big pane of glass. I used to be a bell ringer (campanologist??!!) so was boring my friend got the 50th time with tales of bell ringing accidents. Rope burn and welts/ ouch!

This afternoon we were treated to some folk singing in Coventry’s oldest pub. Very intriguing
