Industrie

Industrie is a global company selling menswear. This branch is newly established in King Street Newtown, near my place. It occupies what used to be three shops, all of which sold women's wear either locally made or from developing countries. One also sold children's clothes and toys and two sold decorative homewares.

So what happened to the three shops? Covid happened. The three former shops and their owners have survived, two going online exclusively and one moving to the next suburb where rents are lower, but I'm saddened by their loss to the local area. I fear there are similar stories which could be a growing trend. This is not a physical decay, but 'there goes the neighbourhood' .

I won't be shopping at Industrie. M is not a hipster.
