A natural phenomenon

There's a Port Jackson fig tree growing outside the local primary school, just near the entrance. In this fig tree a colony of bees has made a hive. I watched it and immediately saw where the expression 'busier than a hive of bees' comes from.

On this dreary day, in the light rain, lens fully extended, I took a number of photos. I spent some time. My cue to leave was a bee coming for me. It meant business, as it were, so to speak. I didn't swat, I just ran. All good.

I think these bees took the opportunity of a student free school but they will be back later this month. I understand the need to keep the children safe but I also hope the hive survives. Such a nice thing to see.

Thanks to M for spotting it.
