Sgwarnog: In the Field

Globes

A number of these globes appeared in Leeds during the summer as part of The World Reimagined installation of 103 of them across seven cities (Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Swansea and London).

This one by Trinidadian artist Shivanee Ramlochan is called The Sea’s Lament Becomes a Battle Cry, and explores themes around the Transatlantic Trade in Enslaved Africans. Text at the foot of the globe invites viewers to learn more about the life of Richard Evans (extra).

The globes are on view until the end of October.
