On course

Yesterday ended with an uplifting FaceTime with the grandson in California whose birthday is on Saturday. Owing to arrangements for the actual day and as he was off daycare as a result of staff training, he opened our presents today while we were watching

The present was a large box of Lego to add to his already enormous collection of bricks and models. For a lad who will be 5 on Saturday his manual dexterity is excellent and he is able to assemble things with ease and follow the diagrams on the sheets.

He was having a few friends around that evening for a sugar rush of birthday cake. So we left them all to it and went to bed!

Today has been another Indian Summer day. We walked this morning then Susan went to see her mum for the first time in three weeks as we’ve been away and while we were away she caught covid. Seems to have weathered the infection very well.

Todays blip is at the golf course where Tuesdays are ladies days. I’ve always liked this view of the bridge across the pond and through the trees. The ladies obliged with their positioning.

I went to the allotment, found the leeks amongst the abundant weeds, cleared the soil and earthed it up around them. Picked what I think was the last of the runner beans, sorted out the brassicas and planted a few spares where some plants had failed. Cleared the broadbean bed too.

Back time to get dinner - now we’re off to do battle with the Council again…
