Wheel Bug

My husband spotted this guy in the hedgerow. Neither of us knew what type of bug it was. It looked a bit like a beetle, but not like any beetle we have ever seen. I used google images to make an identification. It is a wheel bug. Its nickname is "assassin bug" because its bite is worse than a bee sting. Yikes! I need to be more careful with these macros!
