Another Life

In a previous existence I might have been on that plane, heading back into Edinburgh airport in a wide arc out across the Firth of Forth. Back when I worked for the bank, and particularly during the NatWest integration when it seemed like two-thirds of the Monday morning red-eye flight from Edinburgh to London was bank staff, I made a number of trips south. I usually only went down for the day, arriving in the London offices around 9am and then leaving about 4pm to get across London to catch the flight home. Although a lot of what we were doing could be done separately it did help to have a few in-person meetings to build the sense of teamwork and connection. It all seems like a completely different world, which in many ways it is.
