Uppark

Short visit to Uppark on top of the South Downs this afternoon, a 17th century house, restored in 1989 after a terrible fire. Judging by the crowds that have been there every time we've visited, it's very popular. We only went for gentle exercise and fresh air today, no house tour. But the weather didn't live up to the forecast and it was quite blowy and cool on the top of the Downs.

This is a window in the old dairy, which struck me as quite simple and lovely, stained glass and decorated tiles even though the only people who would see it were servants. The stables were decorated with wood carving too. Must have been a lot of money about back in the day.
