The Turning Point

As it was a beautiful morning I set off for a forest ride. As I made my way along the paths I started seeing loads of runners with numbers. I was intrigued as to what was going on.

As I approached Epping I came into a clearing to find a table loaded with snacks and attended by charming helpers who explained that it was the Camino Ultra. A 50 k route from Wanstead Flats in the south , up to Epping and back. Impressive.

As the participants loaded up I was encouraged to take some snacks myself. I felt a bit of a fraud as I wasn't in the event but they insisted and so I chose a mini fudge bar. It tasted delicious half an hour later when I was sitting on a log enjoying a coffee from a flask.
