Aquilegia

This little columbine grows beside my front door. It is not supposed to. I never put it there. Despite that, it flowers every May and each time I look forward to it being as stunning as it was the year before. The weather has not been kind to it this time round. Little brown spots have appeared on the delicate white petals and an insect has presumably decided that it would make an interesting meal. I am sure that this is not so different from every other year. I am sure that the little columbine is only ever perfect for a short while, but it's beauty means more to me than it's eventual demise. So, I choose to remember this.
