Venetian Parade

It's been a gorgeous day today and we went to Les Jardin D'Annevoie where there was a Venetian Parade. The Chateau and gardens are wonderful and it's like a mini Versailles with a grand canal that dates back to 1758. We got there a few hours before the parade so we could walk through the gardens, and then we had a typical Belgian lunch of Maredsous Beer, cheese with celery salt and a beer sausage. It was very tasty!

There were stalls selling Venetian costumes, masks and works of art, and I bought a very pretty mask that's possible to either wear or hang as a decoration. The vendors were actually Italian, and their products were authentic which was nice.

Then we watched the parade of 80 different costumes, which were handmade by the people wearing them, and which are amazing works of art. I took lots of photos and it was a choice of the beautiful chateau with reflections in the water, or one from the parade. I decided it had to be one of the Venetian costumes and chose this one in the end as she's facing towards me, and her umbrella makes a nice background. Plus she's also wearing orchids which are my favourite flower. Take a closer look.

I'm late blipping as it's been such a warm night, so we've been sat outside having a drink and then dinner, and have only must come indoors. I'll now try and catch up with your diaries!
