The Hague

We're heading back to the Netherlands today with this beautiful shot of the Palace Noordeinde in the Hague submitted to h.hall@napier.ac.uk by hjarald. Thank you so much!

It was to here in April 1940 that the Dutch royal family fled before the (anticipated) German invasion of the Netherlands the following month. Lorna Lloyd makes mention of the royal family's flight in her war diary entry of 11th April 1940. You can listen to Lorna's great-great niece Bethany Ray voice act this news in Episode 5 of our podcast series of the Diary of the war  (previously blipped in full in the LornaL journal),

We're really pleased that we have now finished posting photographs of the places in the Netherlands that Lorna mentions in her war diary, so we have been able to take this country off the list below. However, we still have many more pictures to collect. The majority are places in Lorna's home country of England. Come on English blippers, the Platform to Platform project team would love to hear from more of you ;-)

If you have a photograph(s) of any of the places (that you have not blipped already), please do send it(them) to h.hall@napier.ac.uk and we will feature it(them) alongside the others that we have been blipping here since 13th July 2022.
