Raindrops on Roses

There was a heavy mist this morning when I went for a walk to Spout Hills, then into town. I spotted this lovely rose poking its head over a garden wall, covered in dew drops. I’ve also added an extra of a house in the mist. I wanted something from Boots, but it wasn’t open again due to the lack of a pharmacist, so I’ll try again tomorrow. I really enjoyed the first half of our U3A photo group this afternoon, some lovely photos of Pensthorpe.

Covid Update
The weekly ONS infection survey of private households up to w/e 10th Oct showed UK cases rose 15.4% in the last week and are now at 2m (the rate of increase is slowing). Rates are rising in 50-69 year olds, but are level or falling in other age groups. There's an estimated 1 in 30 with the virus in England (up); 1 in 35 in Scotland (up); 1 in 25 in Wales (up), and 1 in 40 in NI (uncertain). The rates of Covid in hospital patients and healthcare workers are declining per the UKHSA. There is now a mutation of variant BA.4 (BA.4.6) that has increased recently in regions where BA.5 is dominant and a small study suggests it might escape antibodies from vaccination of previous infection.

(Flu cases in England have risen quickly in the last week, the season being earlier than normal. Hospital admissions are rising fastest in children under 5, but also in the elderly. So get your flu jab!)
