Nick Nairn Cooks Sassermaet

Light showers first thing, but dried up.  A windy and overcast day.

I slept pretty good last night with the pain killers, only woke twice on the night.  Up early, and got washing out, and then walkies with Sammy, popping by Madeline's for a cuppa.  Headed into Lerwick this morning, A Taste of Shetland was on.  Met friend Julie for walkies in Lerwick, and then we headed down to mam's to see sis Julie and the lasses.  Working in the shop tonight. Legs haven't been as sore today, but keeping active helps and proper chairs for resting.

Scottish celebrity chef, Nick Nairn, has been up in Shetland again for our food festival, A Taste of Shetland.  He's been on the main stage doing live cooking demos, a salmon dish, a lamb curry and also sassermaet meatballs.  Sassermaet looks similar to Lorne sausage, but way better.  It's generally fried or grilled and eaten in a roll, or added to a breakfast plate.  His sassermaet meatball in an Italian tomato sauce sounded great, and was great inspiration for tea tonight. He seemed a nice guy when I got a chance to chat and a photo.  Taken in the Clickimin centre, Lerwick.
