The Banks of Green Willow. Leitz Summicron 50mm DR

As I photographed this verdant scene down at the Muddy River today, I was put in mind of George Butterworth's charming orchestral idyll of the same title from 1913. The work is based on English country folk songs collected in Sussex by Butterworth some years before.  Here's a link to the Wikipedia article.  The Muddy River is part of Frederick Law Olmsted's famous Emerald Necklace which snakes its way through the Boston suburbs.
It was a beautiful Fall day and people were out.  The Extras give a hint of the colors, including the seasonal, matching hair, and the Canada geese flash-mobbing this person at the suggestion of a free lunch.
