Down To Light

Looking down into the woodland from a shady spot, pathways of light led the way through a chaotic scene of fallen trees and tangled undergrowth. I wouldn’t want to venture down there even though the light on the other side was inviting. Without sun filled pockets in amongst the trees, I think it would be hard to make sense of the image, photographically speaking.

I purposely placed the last trunk on the right edge to help the eye stay in the frame, yet it seemed important to have light to the left of the nearer trunk on the opposite side. I made quite a few adjustments to the contrast to bring the dynamic range to a more manageable level and reduce some of the hot spots which were distracting. Not bad for a midday shot.
