“Iris Sultan’s Palace”

This very unusually coloured flag iris was given to me by my gardening friend, Norma. Sadly for me she moved to Ashburton last year. I miss her lots. Flag irises fascinate me. I marvel at how such beauty can emerge from small tight buds.
The day has been unseasonably hot for this time of the year. Over 25C in our porch. Despite the heat, I managed to finish weeding and tidying the remainder of the narrow garden strip edging the long driveway. I have Gazanias growing there. They make a bright splash of colour at the moment.
