Birds of Prey, Surfers, Caves & Giant StingRay

Today made up for yesterday! We made breakfast in the Margaret River Hotel and head off for the Eagles Heritage Centre. I had a barn owl on my hand and looked at many more bird of prey species.

After that we drove to the Preveli surfer spot. There the Margaret River ends in the ocean. But because of the draught there was a sandbank seperating the two when we were there.

From there we continued to Mammoth Cave. A giant limestone cave where archeologists found the first evidence of megafauna in Western Australia (big bones of land mammals). We did a 2 hour walk there and admired the rocks, plants and birds.

To end our day, we drove to Hamelin Bay where we saw a couple of fishermen pulling a big catch of salmon ashore. When we walked to the old jetty there, we saw 3 giant stingrays in the sea just off shore. They were enormous and together with the sunset they made my day!
